    Domino (Movie Review)

Domino is the popular board game in which players place tiles, known as dominoes or bones, on a table. Each domino has a square-shaped identity-bearing face, usually marked with an arrangement of spots or pips. The other face may be blank or identically patterned. Dominoes are normally twice as long as they are wide, and each has a line running down the middle to divide it visually into two squares, called ends. The number of pips on each end indicates the value of that domino; one with more pips is generally considered to be “heavier” than a domino with fewer pips.

Domino’s powers are based on the “Probability Field,” which she uses to subliminally and psionically initiate random telekinetic acts that alter probabilities in her favor. This effect radiates from her body all the time, but it is only activated when she takes part in an action whose chance she can influence. For example, she might push a button to activate an electrical circuit, or she might hit just the right switch to shut down an overloading nuclear reactor. Her power cannot be consciously controlled, but it can be influenced by other people or objects.

In her early career, Domino was a freelance mercenary. Her career was boosted when she was hired as the bodyguard of genius Milo Thurman. The two fell in love, but their relationship was short-lived when terrorist attacks forced Thurman into deeper government cover. Domino eventually joined X-Force, working for its Hong Kong branch and forming an alliance with the mutant Cable (Nathan Summers).

While on a mission in El Salvador, Domino disabled a prototype combat droid that was neurologically controlled by rogue CIA agent Ekaterina Gryaznova. As revenge, Gryaznova implanted Domino with a neural blocker that interfered with her synaptic relays. This left her comatose for three years until X-Force’s Jesse Aaronson used his power to reboot her machinery and return her to consciousness.

During a battle with the High Evolutionary, Domino was possessed by the Undying alien Aentaros and planned to use her to kill fellow mutant Randall Shire, but Cable stopped her. Domino then rejoined X-Force but quit when Pete Wisdom offered to turn the team into a proactive black ops unit.

Domino has also returned to freelance work and became involved in a conflict with Donald Pierce and Lady Deathstrike who attempted to download her friend Kwannon’s mind into a computer. During the fight she struck back and snatched Halloween Jack from the timeline, returning him to his normal timeline.

Domino has often used her luck to help her clients, such as the New Orleans businessman and alleged gangster Dewey Corben. She has been seen in Hell’s Kitchen, where she met the mutant mobster Code Red and was attacked by the Red Hulk, but she survived the attack and knocked him out before he could reveal her secret. She has also fought in battles with the mobsters Blockade and Grotto, as well as the time-traveling mutant Dr. John Cable.
